NotOnlyButAlso launches new Turner Classic Movies website in shift to draw younger viewers

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) has unveiled a younger, more distinctive branded look to the website to mark its 10th anniversary.

NotOnlyButAlso is proud to present the new website, www.tcmuk.tv which is fully integrated with our content management system and features an updated look as well as incorporating film features, video clips and a weekly blog, alongside uprated channel listings.

More features are in the pipeline including one of the world’s largest film databases, planned to launch in July.

NotOnlyButAlso has agreed a two year outsourcing deal with Turner Broadcasting to run the website, both in terms of editorial content and ongoing site creative, technical development and maintenance.

In addition, a digital marketing campaign, entitled ‘Capture Your Classic’ is running now inviting viewers to upload recreations of five famous films scenes onto the website. The user generated content judged to be the best will then be seeded out across a range of social networking sites.

The celebrity fronted campaign will launch with two famous faces recreating an iconic film scene, alongside many hundreds of members of the public, taking place on July 12 at a central London location.

April update

What a lovely day for mountain biking into work. My route takes me from Ditchling to work here in Brighton and although I ride year in year out, come rain or shine, days like today when warm and sunny are a real treat to be out on the Downs. Even when a mother sheep and its two lovely lambs succeed in helping me to lowside whilst trying to avoid them! They crossed my path running in front of me so many times I lost count. Until I braked so hard and lost the back on the wet grass! Anyway they were all cool and off they went, laughing I'm sure. I always slow down - just not enough this time!

Anyway, what's been cooking at NotOnlyButAlso so far this month. Apart from some of the interesting stuff we can't talk about right now, and a little tech update to the Five News website, we have been busy for those lovely people at Monterosa Productions coming up with some hot design stuff including BBC Bitesize and more importantly Big Wildlife Garden [BETA], which is a Natural England campaign that encourages people to help propagate the country's rich wildlife by making our gardens more hospitable. It is really intersting as it aims to create a giant virtual nature reserve which engages gardeners, families and schools, helping them to manage and maintain their gardens while picking up tips from others.

We've also been busy producing the Information Architecture [wire frames to you and me!] and logo for the new Sightsavers fundraising website we are producing which is looking like it is going to be feature packed and rewarding to use.

We produced some offline work this month including signage and an exhibition stand for Financial Risk Management experts J.C. Rathbone Associates which was a nice change to web work. We also put to bed the latest set of updates to our e-commerce website produced a while ago now for IconLive French Connection IconLiveFC.

Finally for our client EdComs April saw us helping them deliver their Carbon Footprint Calculator for BP developed in Flash. We produced the interactive school carbon calculator and gallery. The carbon calculator teaches students about carbon emissions and their impacts, choices for carbon reduction and alternative energy supplies. It sits alongside other important quick-fire activities, factsheets, energy animations, a picture gallery and flexible teachers’ notes.

So, as we move towards May let's hope the good weather continues and crashes caused by speeding sheep stop!

FREE bus pass for OAP website

Now heres something we have been meaning to do for quite literally, ages.

The web evolves, HTML standards move on, your busy "head down - punching on" with client work and before your know it your own website has gotten old. Retired - age 4.

It was pretty, but it was also pretty time consuming to update too, and so we never really had the chance to shout about what we were doing as we did it. And seeing as you lot all seem to have bigger shinier screens we thought we should show off our work bigger and shinier than before.

So, as we have done so many times for our clients but rarely for ourselves, we're launching our new site. But you already know this because your reading this story... Enjoy.

Pitch Win: Sightsavers fundraising microsite

We are very pleased to be producing a new website for Sightsavers International. Sightsavers works to combat blindness in developing countries.

Sightsavers appointed us last month, following a three-way unpaid pitch and wants to develop a fundraising micro-site to promote supporter fundraising as well as be an area for supporters to share their stories and photos of this type of fundraising.

To facilitate this we have suggested building on their initial ideas and including giving fundraisers their own fully featured user accounts with personal home pages, an event calendar, an event notifications system and the ability to utilise the database of previous user events generated by the site to aid people setting up their own event.

In October last year we produced a site IncludeEveryone.org dedicated to the issue of disability and the Millennium Development Goals and in December created a Santa themed Gift of Sight viral game just in time for Christmas.
